On-line Ordering Portals

A public sector organisation was developing an on-line ordering portal enabling geographically disparate departments to order via a secure Internet application. The process replaced a cumbersome, paper based system that was expensive, inefficient and inconvenient with a streamlined mechanism available 24x7. The new system also dramatically reduced costs by removing the need for paper forms and reducing the volume of calls handled by their centralised call-centre. During this process they were aware that ensuring they had accurately gathered requirements was critical prior to commencing development.

IVIS Group was asked to validate these eCommerce requirements and subsequently identified a number of critical issues that could have become major problems if not tackled early. Additionally, the work has involved developing and undertaking acceptance testing against the agreed requirements. The early identification of potential weaknesses has contributed to the success of the project while maintaining a tight control of costs.
