Sonetto® Product Information Management is a powerful application, with a natural language interface, that captures, transforms and delivers consistent, customer-focused product information across every channel in the organisation.
For any business working with a diverse range of product information, the first task is to collect data from multiple external sources. External systems include ERP, legacy, databases, 3rd party suppliers and spreadsheets, amongst others.
Using two of the powerful elements of the Sonetto® platform - the business rules engine and the flexible schema - the import console aggregates data from various information sources, validating and assembling all of the pieces of data into a unified product catalog.
Consistency and accuracy of product information is critical for any business and by acquiring the knowledge from your business users through their activity in the system, the rules engine in Sonetto® can automate repetitive tasks to validate information and enforce integrity.
Business users can add an unlimited number of items and attributes and define as many business rules as they like. As new business requirements emerge, the Sonetto® flexible information model will cope with the accompanying changes with ease. Business users do not have to rely on the IT department to add or change their information.

Knowing as we do, that product information is relatively unstructured in nature, especially when it comes from multiple suppliers or external systems, Sonetto® PIM combines the twin strengths of business rules and semantic technology, to enable business users to dynamically cleanse seemingly un-related information.
By teaching Sonetto® PIM the rules of your business, it can repeat tasks across large volumes of data that would ordinarily be performed by hand. More importantly Sonetto® PIM will execute these rules for every product that meets the defined criteria both now and in the future.
Through a simplified user interface, business users can right click and use a menu of tools to change information using rules. Unstructured information such as text descriptions can be searched and converted into structured information; missing fields can be completed based on existing information; and new fields can be populated.
If exceptions to the rules are identified, these can be managed at the time of editing, as Sonetto® PIM provides visibility of all of the products that will be affected by the current rule being created. As multiple users in the business perform these operations, a comprehensive set of rules are established for your business that deliver a rich set of cleansed data.
As a concept enrichment means different things to different companies. Within Sonetto® PIM, you can apply enrichment on multiple levels. Using the same flexible structure and business rules, products can be brought to life, prepared for different markets or enhanced to support specific channels.
Multi-media information such as photographs, video or flash based content can be added to products within Sonetto® PIM. This information can be stored locally or can be linked to from an external system. Connectivity is provided in Sonetto® PIM for some of the leading image management repositories, including Brandbank™, Scene7™ and Akamai™.
Using the business rules engine in Sonetto® PIM the standardised information contained within product attributes can be translated automatically. This standard translation allows focus and funding to be targeted on the richer unstructured product text which is manually undertaken. To support the use of external translation agencies, product information can be easily exported and imported during the translation process.
Specific channels, such as print media, mobile phones, kiosks or POS systems require product information to be formatted correctly, to the right length or size, all of which can be automated using the power of Sonetto® PIM.
There are multiple processes in the merchandising of a product; in Sonetto® PIM this includes three main steps - categorisation, cross-sell and up-sell.
Categorisation is a critical component for product management - it must be easy for customers to search for, and find your products, both in offline media such as paper catalogues as well as in online platforms such as websites and ecommerce.
Having these diverse taxonomies of product information provides the maximum flexibility to your business and empowers marketing and merchandising teams to be creative with the structuring of information for your customers. Providing new ways for customers to navigate to and discover products can also be automated using business rules, picking up key criteria such as: 'featured product‟, 'best sellers‟, 'new additions‟, 'coming soon‟ and 'latest products‟.
The Cross-sell and Up-sell relationships between products are critical across all sales channels. These can be created in Sonetto® PIM either manually through editing, using operational information collected from existing customers or automated through the use of the business rules engine and semantic technology.
Dynamic relationships between products can be created using business rules, so information such as most purchased or perhaps stock levels can be used to dynamically adjust product relationships and maximise the impact on sales.
