The latest issue of Retail Week magazine, the leading authority on retailing in the UK, includes extensive quotes from a recent interview with IVIS Group CEO Qusai Sarraf in its September Multi-channel supplement.
The article entitled “Building operating models for a multichannel future” looks at how some of the biggest names in UK retailing are changing the way they run their businesses and how it needs to be radical if they are going to be fit for a multi-channel future.
As Sarraf states “Retailers need to be innovative with their business models. They might have five channels with customers jumping between them so there needs to be joined-up processes between web teams and store teams. To succeed in this new world and this new vision it’s all about the team and teamwork. That’s where the multi-channel director comes in, to co-ordinate everybody”.
Working with big-name retailers in the UK and overseas including Tesco has shown the importance of “having somebody who can think in new, multi-faceted ways” continues Sarraf.
As Retail Week Supplements’ editor Laura Heywood writes, one lesson to take away from the supplement is that multi-channel has long ceased to be a buzzword or a new-fangled concept for the attention of the IT department, in the UK at least it is a fundamental concept of retail.
Retail Week covers the entire UK retail sector, including, food, fashion, home and DIY, entertainment and general merchandise as well as e-tail, multi-channel, store interiors, technology and property providing industry news, insightful analysis, comment and key data.
